Miss {K} - Santa Rosa Senior Portrait Photographer

My oh my.  I had the opportunity to photograph the most adorable high school senior last night.  Could she be any more darling?

The hair.  The eyes.  The outfits.

Loved them all and they photographed so well together at the Kenwood Restaurant and, later, at St. Francis Winery.

Miss Kelsey is an upcoming senior at Cardinal Newman High School...the first of the graduating class that includes both men and women students.  We are all very anxious to see how this transition works and wish the best for all involved.  My blog readers know how much I loved Ursuline High School :)

Kelsey selected the first location of the Kenwood Restaurant since her family has held many special occasions and meals at the establishment.  When I introduced myself to the management prior to shooting, they knew exactly who I was going to photograph and two members of the wait staff discussed how they knew Kelsey since before she was born.  Now that is great service!  They also mentioned that she was a beautiful tall young lady, and they were absolutely right.

Kelsey also requested for her present from her 17th birthday to be included in some images...and I just knew that she had such love for her truck that 'he' had to have a name.  And, here is Bo (not sure if I am spelling his name right through)...

As someone who has always had names for my vehicles (first was Audrey the Acura, then Sadie the Jetta, and now we are back to Audrey with another Acura) I knew that Kelsey was a girl after my own heart :)

A nice classic yearbook photo is always a must during senior sessions...

After a quick drive down highway 12 we arrived at St. Francis winery which was closed for the evening, but we had received access to and had so much fun roaming the private property.

We are so blessed to live in Sonoma County, it is a beautiful area with so much versatility and bounty.

Taking photos by yourself is sometimes awkward for subjects, but part of my job is to bring out clients emotions and natural behavior.  It is always a challenge that I love doing, all the while, taking images like this one...

We needed to bring Bo back for some more photo lovin'...

Kelsey's sweet mother also joined us for the session.  She was a helpful bag carrier, truck parker, and wardrobe assistant.  :)  Although she might not have wanted her photo taken, her youngest daughter insisted and we were able to capture some great images at the end of the session.  With two grown children out of the home, her third and final child is embarking on her last year of high school.

So many memories already made and so many memories to make.

Miss Kelsey - Thank you SO much for such a time playing at your stomping grounds in Kenwood.  I could not have asked for a better mother-daughter team to spend Friday night with :)  You are such an inspiration for our future...thank you for taking on the world and being a ray of sunshine that is greatly needed.  I wish you the best of luck with your senior year.  Enjoy all the moments, big and small.

And be sure to treat Bo nicely as well :)

    xoxo

Miss Olivia - Santa Rosa Senior Portrait Photographer

In addition to taking individual pictures of Olivia for her senior session her boyfriend joined us for a few.  I enjoyed being around a little innocent young love and having the opportunity to switch up from individual to couple portraits.

    Love me some unposed shots...

And another unposed shot...my favorite kind!

Miss Olivia - Santa Rosa Senior Portrait Photographer

I remember when I first heard that Miss Olivia was on her way in this world of ours.  I was in elementary school, having dinner with my family and her parents at Chevy's.  Her parents just moved into their new home and my mom was helping them sew their window coverings...Olivia's mom asked if my mom wouldn't mind making some curtains for another room - this time a nursery.

    Seventeen years later...meet Miss Olivia.

I have watched her grow up, she was one of the two children that my mom provided daycare for when I was growing up.  The stories that my sister and I have with Olivia are priceless - we just loved having a little sweet baby in our home after school was out for the day.

Next week she will start school as a Senior at Ursuline High School.

A year of parking in the Senior parking lot, a year with more privileges (like more free dress days), a year of tough decisions for the future and a year of unforgettable memories.

A year where mistakes make way for lifelong learning, a year where true friendships stand the test of time and a year of preparation for the next big step after graduation day.

My hope for Miss Olivia is that she treasures each moment of being a Senior and makes all the little moments count.

My hope is that she holds on to her childhood as long as she possibly can...although the real world is so enticing at this stage in life, once you cross that line there is no going back.

But, most of all Miss Olivia, I hope that you stay true to the young woman that you have become.  It has been a pleasure to watch you get to where you are today.  I look forward to admiring all the good that you will continue to bring into this world of ours.  Thank you for providing a reason for my mom to make curtains seventeen years ago.

    xoxo
